Community Supper hall is now a cool place to hang out

Recently, people were complaining about the cold and rain. This week, as temperatures tipped into triple digits on Wednesday, the guests and volunteers at Mt. Calvary Community Supper thoroughly enjoyed the new air conditioning.

For several years, Community Supper was forced to cancel when temperatures climbed. Last August, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church (MCLC) installed air conditioning in Fellowship Hall to allow both MCLC parishioners and Community Supper guests to enjoy the hall during the summer heat. According to Dinner Manager Pam Farrill, “[AC] really is wonderful, especially after last year’s forced closings.”

Air conditioning for the Hall, which has been a long-term dream project for the Community Supper, was finally achieved due to the generosity of donors and the support of MCLC.

According to Ms. Farrill, “We have had a steady 70+ guests each week and anticipate it will remain so. Combined with 30+ meals that we send to our homebound friends, we are now cooking over 100 meals every Wednesday to share with our neighbors in need of a delicious dinner and much friendship.”

Mt. Calvary Community Supper recently celebrated its 13th year serving the community. For more information about Community Supper and how you can either attend or help, see https://www.mtcalvaryacton.org/community-supper.
