Walking in and around South Acton’s historic Mill Corner, you will learn about Acton’s earliest colonial settlement and its development into a hub of industry and commerce. You will learn about the people, places and practices that shaped the town’s history and our nation’s as well. Topics include Native American history, the use of natural resources, the importance of Colonel Francis Faulkner and Acton’s West Militia Company, the longtime role of the Jones and Faulkner families, the impact of the railroad, and visit nearby historic buildings, including those owned by the Iron Work Farm. The social action group Na’aseh (We will Act) of Congregation Beth Elohim, is proud to host State Rep. Simon Cataldo. Rep. Cataldo will speak about the findings and report of the Special Commission Combatting Anti-Semitism. Rep. Cataldo co-chaired this commission formed in 2024. In time for the start of school, the commission issued its K-12 recommendations. Read the report HERE. The final report will be released in November. Rep. In 2023, Professor Bob Allison inaugurated the Acton 250 Lectures Series with an account of the Boston Tea Party of 1773 and the pivotal events that sparked the American Revolution. He returned to explain the critical changes occurring in the year 1774 when the Crown’s response solidified the colonial opposition. We are thrilled to have Bob for his third visit to discuss the events after the start of the Revolution. Professor Allison is renowned for his expertise in American colonial history, and the political, social, and economic factors that converged in the 18th century, leading to Massachusetts’ significant role in
“I Hiked Acton’s Trails!” Walk the trails in Acton’s conservation areas with the goal of earning a sticker and a sew-on patch! These weekly walks are a joint effort between Acton Conservation Trust and Acton Conservation Division. We’ll walk a different conservation area weekly.
