A group of junior high graduates with time on their hands this summer put it to good use last week. The group was cherishing the opportunity to be together, as one of the crowd is heading to Minuteman Tech in the fall.
Jay Chhabra, Rory Sheehy, Bento Monteiro, Chef Vihaan Mudunte, Liam Marsh, Luke Forsyth, Jasper Sage, Julian Clayton, Azaan Ali, and Paul Clarke just wanted to have fun.
“We decided we wanted to make a lemonade stand. We wanted to spend time together and help out the community rather than just blowing the money on candy,” Chhabra said at their stand in front of Gardner Field in West Acton. The Acton Food Pantry benefited from the boys’ self-awareness as the idea turned into “Lemonade 4 Charity.”
Vihaan Mudunte baked a variety of treats (this reporter can attest to the deliciousness, in particular the confetti cookies). The kids made a poster, mixed the lemonade, and set up store. No 5 cent cups at this establishment: a Venmo link allowed customers to donate to the food pantry as they enjoyed the repast.
There were plans to set up Lemonade 4 Charity a few more times this summer.
