Suspect in vandalism case turns himself in

Mark Samuel McEnnis, 41 year old male from Mason, NH was arrested on October 30 on a warrant for the following charges in connection with the October 14 vandalism incident:

  • Malicious or Wanton Defacing or Damaging of Property
  • Property Damage to Intimidate.

In the October 14 incident, a symbol of diversity hanging from a Church of the Good Shepherd welcome sign near the off ramp of Route 2 at Newtown Rd./Central St. was defaced, and a video of the act distributed on social media.

McEnnis turned himself in to Boxborough Police Headquarters and had a court appearance scheduled for October 31, 2024.

“Boxborough Detective Sergeant Bowolick worked diligently in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police’s Hate Crimes Awareness and Response Team to ensure this case was investigated promptly and thoroughly,” stated Boxborough Police Chief John Szewczyk. “The Boxborough Police Department has zero tolerance for crimes of this magnitude as all individuals, regardless of background, should feel safe in our community.”
