Diwalifest is a local, non-profit mela (fair/festival) with the goal of celebrating Diwali as a community. We encourage people of all different backgrounds to participate, learn, and celebrate Diwali together. There will be music, dance, performances, vendors, food, and more. Diwali Fest is FREE to attend (with food and crafts to purchase). Mark your calendars. We hope to see you there! The Boxborough Museum at 575 Middle Road is open on second Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Come see Boxborough’s historic treasures including the 1850’s scale which is sensitive enough to weigh a penny and strong enough to calibrate a 50 pound weight, the “new” hearse built in 1881, and the “old” hearse (come and see how old is old). The Acton Community Services Office within the Department of Health and Human Services, in partnership with MetroWest Legal Services, will host a monthly housing legal clinic beginning in January. Housing Legal Clinic appointments will begin on Jan. 14 and will be held on the second Tuesday of each month from 4-6 p.m. at the Human Service and Senior Center, 30 Sudbury Road Rear. “I Hiked Acton’s Trails!” Walk the trails in Acton’s conservation areas with the goal of earning a sticker and a sew-on patch! These weekly walks are a joint effort between Acton Conservation Trust and Acton Conservation Division. We’ll walk a different conservation area weekly. Bettina Abe, a retired member of Acton’s Conservation Department and a long-time leader of hikes along Acton’s trails, will lead a new and brisk hiking route this year, exploring local archaeology along the Nashoba Brook, Robbins Mill, and Spring Hill connector Trails. This year’s hike will begin at the Robbins Mill Conservation Parking lot on Carlisle Road and will include stops at the Roof Slab Quarry, the Robbins Mill Pond and mill site, and the Pipsissewa Native American ceremonial sites.
