A Special District Meeting has been called to ask voters to approve an operating budget for Fiscal Year 2027, which begins on July 1, 2026. Without an approved budget, the District cannot legally incur expenses to operate the system. The warrant is available here. The budget for consideration will be posted after the Board of Commissioners meeting on April 13, 2026.

Your instructor, Cathy Fochtman, has been teaching Acton Recreation classes since 2000 and loves sharing hands-on plant projects with participants. She is a member of the Acton Garden Club, a Massachusetts Master Gardener (MMGA, Inc.), holds a certificate in Horticultural Therapy from the Horticulture Therapy Institute, and is an accredited Flower Show Judge with National Garden Clubs, Inc. The Big Band era officially started in the summer of 1935, but the transition from hot jazz and Dixieland had begun much earlier in the decade. We’ll trace the roots of Big Band music, including the back story of the King of Swing himself, Benny Goodman. Then you’ll hear his hits like Goody, Goody, Taking a Chance on Love and the historic Carnegie Hall performance of Sing, Sing, Sing!
