Join the ACC organist, Liz Carley, for a free 30 minute concert and lecture on some of the spooky music associated with Hallowe’en. Liz will give a little history of Hallowe’en and play one or two serious organ pieces. Then the fun begins with singing some classic silly Hallowe’en songs. Bring a brown bag lunch and have lunch with us after the concert in our fellowship hall. You bring the interest and the sandwiches, and we'll provide the music, juice, and cookies. Come and celebrate the season through music. It will be a Hallowe'en Howl.

Join us on Wednesday, October 29th, from 3:00 to 4:00pm for a Halloween bike ride event! Wear your best costume and travel 2 miles along the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail from the West Concord bike share station to the East Acton bike share station. Bring your own bike or borrow one from the Minuteman Bike Share. Treats and volunteers will be staggered along the route. Prizes for best costumes will be announced at 4:00! The program model involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book and meeting in a Discussion Group to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today. This months topic will be on American Foreign Policy in the Middle East: Taking Stock and Looking Ahead. A short article is available from the Great Decisions briefing book. Domestic Violence Services Network, Inc. (DVSN) will host its annual Light in the Darkness Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Lexington Community Center, 39 Marret Road, Lexington. Held during  Domestic Violence Awareness Month each October, the Vigil commemorates the lives lost in Massachusetts to domestic violence in the past year. The public is invited to attend this free event. A light supper will be served following the ceremony. “Hockomock” in Algonquin means "land where spirits dwell” and is a revered Wampanoag sacred site, and later a “Devil’s Swamp” for English settlers. Join Dan Boudillion and Bettina Abe for a 2-mile hike at Hockomock Swamp, a Massachusetts Wildlife Management Area in Raynham, Mass. There is much lore surrounding the history of Hockomock Swamp, beginning in the 1600s. The area is the largest freshwater swamp in the state and is known for sightings of floating orbs of light, ghostly voices, and phantom drums linked to its past as an ancient burial ground and a natural fortress during King Phillip’s War.

Nepal: Jeanette's trip to Nepal during a revolution! Nov 1 6-8 pm Jeanette Staley, a Vermont-based artist and activist, had just arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal when a revolution broke out! She'll share with us her experience with art-making in Kathmandu, a brief hike in Nargokot, meeting an elephant in Chitwan, her visit to a rural school of the lowest caste on the south eastern plains of Nepal and what happened when a revolution not only broke out near where she was in lock down, but was successful!  She'll show us photos and other media and artifacts she collected, and of course, share stories of her wonderful adventures...
