Learn about about cranberries with the Acton Garden Club! We won’t travel to Cape Cod for a tour, but this is the next best thing. How are cranberries grown and harvested? What makes them such a special New England crop? Deb Kanady is a retired cancer center mental health counselor and researcher who moved to South Plymouth and lives in the cranberry bogs. She is a trained cranberry tour guide for Cape Cod Cranberry Growers Association and several local farms and an avid birder and trekker.

“I Hiked Acton’s Trails!” Walk the trails in Acton’s conservation areas with the goal of earning a sticker and a sew-on patch! These weekly walks are a joint effort between Acton Conservation Trust and Acton Conservation Division. We’ll walk a different conservation area weekly. Check out the “I Hiked Acton’s Trails” Challenge form HERE for more information about the challenge. Date: Wednesdays from September 3 to November 19. The Acton Exchange team holds monthly meetings that are open to our active volunteers and anyone who might want to become a volunteer. Tour leader Amy Cole grew up near Acton Center and knows the Town well. She has a wide ranging-interest in Acton’s unique history. Walking Acton’s historic civic center, you will learn about the people, places and practices that shaped the town’s history and our nation’s as well. Topics include Native American history, the role of the church, the importance of Captain Isaac Davis and the Acton Minutemen, nearby historic buildings, memorials and more.
