    Megan Ford Au.D., a licensed audiologist in practice since 1998, will provide hearing screenings, ear wax checks, and basic hearing aid checks. Please allow 15 minutes for your appointment. Dr. Ford has worked at several major medical centers in Boston, Cleveland and Worcester. In 2013 she opened her private practice, HearSmart Audiology, in Littleton. There has been such a high demand for Dr. Ford’s appointments, she will now be coming to the Center monthly!   • Acton COA Presents: Becoming Janet: Finding Myself in the Holocaust with Author Janet Singer Applefield

    The Friends of the Acton Council on Aging proudly announce that the Honoring Excellence program will host Holocaust Survivor, Author and Public Speaker Janet Singer Applefield. Janet wrote a memoir about her experience as a Jewish child in Poland, surviving by taking on the identity of a deceased Catholic girl and hiding in plain sight with the aid of strangers. Her father, weighing just 110 pounds, survived the Theresienstadt camp-ghetto and reunited with his daughter. He transcribed Janet’s recollections of her years of survival, which served as the basis for her memoir. Refreshments will be served following the program. At

  • Halloween Brown Bag Organ Concert

    Join the ACC organist, Liz Carley, for a free 30 minute concert and lecture on some of the spooky music associated with Hallowe’en. Liz will give a little history of Hallowe’en and play one or two serious organ pieces. Then the fun begins with singing some classic silly Hallowe’en songs. Bring a brown bag lunch and have lunch with us after the concert in our fellowship hall. You bring the interest and the sandwiches, and we'll provide the music, juice, and cookies.     “I Hiked Acton’s Trails!”  Walk the trails in Acton’s conservation areas with the goal of earning a sticker and a sew-on patch! These weekly walks are a joint effort between Acton Conservation Trust and Acton Conservation Division. We’ll walk a different conservation area weekly. Check out the “I Hiked Acton’s Trails” Challenge form HERE for more information about the challenge. Date: Wednesdays from September 3 to November 19. Once you register, the location of each hike will be sent out each Sunday before the walk. Time: 2:30-4:00 pm. Plan to arrive a few minutes early as we will start our hikes on time.     Join us on Wednesday, October 29th, from 3:00 to 4:00pm for a Halloween bike ride event! Wear your best costume and travel 2 miles along the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail from the West Concord bike share station to the East Acton bike share station. Bring your own bike or borrow one from the Minuteman Bike Share. Treats and volunteers will be staggered along the route. Prizes for best costumes will be announced at 4:00! The program model involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book and meeting in a Discussion Group to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today.
