On Monday, January 6th, at 6:37 a.m., Acton Fire was dispatched to Concord to provide station coverage, as their resources were committed to a fire at 1346 Main Street, a two and one half story wood frame duplex a few doors from the Fowler Branch of the Concord Free Public Library. The fire apparently started in the ceiling of a second floor bathroom. Four occupants and a dog were displaced, and the Red Cross was contacted by Concord to assist the residents.

Acton sent Engine 24 with a lieutenant and a firefighter from Station 4 and Brush 25 with three firefighters from station 2 (to fill out a complement of 5 members responding with mutual aid). Acton happened to have three firefighters at Station 2 at the time of dispatch as it was close to shift change.

While enroute, Acton’s resources were requested to respond to the fire itself at 1346 Main Street. Acton’s crew of 5 members were directed by the Concord Incident Commander to overhaul and check for extension of the fire on the third floor. The crew deployed a 1 ¾” hand line to the third floor and determined that there was no extension of fire to the third floor. Once the fire was extinguished and the scene was under control, Acton’s crew was cleared to return to quarters at 8:18 am.
