AB softball: Revs pound out 16 hits, tame Lions, 12-1

April 25, 2026

April 16, Acton-Boxborough Regional High School: Sixteen hits by the Revolution, including three triples and a home run, overpowered Dual County League opponent Newton South, which collected only three, landing the home team a 12-1 win, when the mercy rule was invoked in the sixth inning.

The Lions opened the scoring quickly, when leadoff hitter Maddie Andrade walked, and, following a strikeout, Zoe Spector singled and reached second on a fielding error, allowing Andrade to score. But the Revs escaped further AB damage when pitcher Aislinn Ryan recorded a strikeout, and easily handled a come-backer. From then on, the Revs defense and Ryan, who went the distance, allowed only a double in the fourth by Riley Cabrera, and a sixth-inning single by Kinneret Rosen.

AB plated their own leadoff hitter after Alice Rosecan singled, reached second on Georgia Ammendolia’s sacrifice bunt, and scored on Stacey Loram’s single. Ryan’s single then sent Loram home, giving their team all the runs they would need. But the Revs banked some insurance runs in the second when Cassidy Ford led off with a triple (her first of four hits on the day), Julia Abeele walked, and they both scored after a fielder’s choice and a fielding error.

The third inning opened with singles by Ryan, Ila Gillespie, and Alexis Haff, with the first two then driven in by Cassidy Ford’s double. The Lions averted further damage by forcing out Haff and Ford at the plate, respectively, when a walk and fielder’s choice loaded the bases, and then ending the inning with a ground out. In the fifth, Ford led off with a single, and scored after advancing on a ground out and a single by Lainey Manfredi.

But the Revs’ hot hitting continued in the sixth. Aislinn Ryan cleared the fence with a solo shot and was followed by Ila Gillespie, who tripled. Haff’s single sent Gillespie home, and Ford’s hit sent Haff to second. After a strikeout, Manfredi, who singled to score Haff, advanced when Rosecan reached on an error. Ammendolia then notched her first hit of the game, plating Haff for the twelfth run, which ended the game via the “mercy rule”.
