The Fab Lab
Allison Mondel moved to Acton with her family in 2022. Transitioning away from her professional singing career, she looked for new ways to express her creativity. She had learned to sew in high school and, having recently found her late mother’s sewing machine, she “rediscovered my love of fabric, color, and creating unique and beautiful things that are literally stitched with love.”
Mondel has been offering pop-up sewing classes at Villageworks. She will be opening her own store in mid-December, at 282 Central Street, the three-story yellow building historically known as the Odd Fellows Hall, at the corner of Central and Arlington Streets.

Wonder
Wonder, in the Brookside Mall (with Staples, Trader Joe’s), will open in early 2026.

Wonder offers food delivery, take-out, and dine-in experiences in which diners can use “Multi-Restaurant Ordering” to order from over twenty restaurants in a single order using the Wonder app.
Andrew Kettle of the Wonder restaurant organization says: “Wonder is a mealtime platform built to satisfy every craving without compromise, blending delivery, meal kits, heat & eat, chef partnerships, and local restaurant ordering, all in one place.”
The company operates over seventy-five locations on the east coast and will open eight other locations in the Boston area during the first quarter of 2026 – including Acton. In each market, they partner with a local non-profit to give back to the community and drive more impact. For the Boston area, they will be teaming up with The Greater Boston Food Bank, supporting their mission of “ending hunger across Eastern Massachusetts” by providing neighbors in need with the healthy food and resources they need to thrive.
A review on the organization’s website provides an insight into Wonder’s appeal: “No more fighting about where to order from. Five different people with five different cravings, and we all got exactly what we wanted from one spot!” Stay tuned for more information about this unique business model.
