Bike share launch attracts crowd in East Acton

June 21, 2025

On June 13, curious bikers gathered on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail at East Acton Village Green to learn about The Minuteman Regional Bike Share Program from representatives of the four host towns: Patricia Costa from Acton; Beth Williams and Alyssa Sandoval from Concord; Jennifer Curtin from Lincoln; and Zoe Piel from Maynard.

Attendees were able to test-ride multi-purpose bikes from sponsors who also offered tasty snacks. Representatives from local businesses including Enterprise Bank, Teamworks/Five Star Sports Rehab and Physical Therapy, Anita’s Shoe Boutique, Waypoint Adventure adaptive programs, Pedal Power, and Majestic Day Spa participated in the opening.

There will be seven bike-share locations in total, including one each at the South Acton and Lincoln commuter rail stops. To rent a bike, you will need to first download an app on your Apple or Android phone. Rentals are $2 to $4 per hour. Plan to bring your own helmet; helmets are not available to rent. Only adult bikes are available, but the seat height is adjustable to fit a wide range of heights.

At NARA Park, residents can borrow an adaptive tricycle free for two hours, while non-residents pay $5.00.
