Iron Work Farm open houses and living history program The Iron Work Farm continues its “4th Sundays” at Jones Tavern (1 to 3 p.m.) and the Faulkner Homestead (3 to 5 p.m.), as well as the latest living history family program, “Crown Resistance and other Matters of State.” At 1:00 at Jones Tavern, former Acton Minuteman Captain Steve Crosby will read the declaration of the town’s resistance to the restrictions imposed by the British government in 1774. The social action group Na’aseh (We will Act) of Congregation Beth Elohim, is proud to host State Rep. Simon Cataldo. Rep. Cataldo will speak about the findings and report of the Special Commission Combatting Anti-Semitism. Rep. Cataldo co-chaired this commission formed in 2024. In time for the start of school, the commission issued its K-12 recommendations. Read the report HERE. The final report will be released in November. Rep. In 2023, Professor Bob Allison inaugurated the Acton 250 Lectures Series with an account of the Boston Tea Party of 1773 and the pivotal events that sparked the American Revolution. He returned to explain the critical changes occurring in the year 1774 when the Crown’s response solidified the colonial opposition. We are thrilled to have Bob for his third visit to discuss the events after the start of the Revolution. “I Hiked Acton’s Trails!” Walk the trails in Acton’s conservation areas with the goal of earning a sticker and a sew-on patch! These weekly walks are a joint effort between Acton Conservation Trust and Acton Conservation Division. We’ll walk a different conservation area weekly.
