Student athletes move on

May 27, Acton-Boxborough Regional High School auditorium: Twenty-one student-athletes will be taking their talents to as many colleges next fall, competing in eleven different sports, across nine states. The eleven Seniors who attended today’s ceremony, hosted by AB Athletic Director Jim Scanlon, are as follows:

  • Adhiti Venkatesh, Women’s Rowing, University of Dayton, majoring in Computer and Electrical Engineering;
  • Abby Depew, Women’s Rowing, University of Rhode Island, majoring in Chemistry;
  • Collet Kinobe, Men’s Track and Field, Tufts University, majoring in Biology on a Pre-med track;
  • Akhilesh Maqtedar, Men’s Cross Country and Track and Field, Bentley University, majoring in Finance;
  • Nooriya Taherbhoy, Women’s Rowing, Trinity College, majoring in Psychology;
  • Isabela Teixiera, Women’s Swim, Cornell University, undecided major, but leaning toward Engineering;
  • Emma Gregg, Women’s Rowing, Indiana University, majoring in Biology;
  • Eliott Raymondeau, Men’s Track and Field, Williams College, Biochemistry;
  • Varun Murthy, Bowdoin College, Men’s Golf, majoring in Economics;
  • Caroline Tyrrell, Women’s Swim, Bates College, undecided major;
  • Kofi Asubonteng, Men’s Soccer, Assumption University, majoring in Finance.

James Conboy played in the Acton Adult Softball League for seventeen years, and now plays in the EMASS Senior Softball League. He covers many sports games for the Acton Exchange.
