Ribbon cutting at The Shop

May 10, 2025

The next time that you’re looking for something unusual to decorate your home, consider heading for The Shop, which just opened on the corner of Massachusetts and Windsor Avenues in West Acton. Acton’s new Economic Development Director, Patricia Costa, held a ribbon cutting for co-owners, Jami Hoyle and Phil Sowerder, on Friday April 18th. Members of Acton’s Economic Development Committee and Select Board were in attendance.

When asked how they sourced their items, Phil Sowerder smiled and said that he “had his secrets”. Then added that he, and co-owner Jami Hoyle, had complementary work styles that help them get items from “all over”. Although The Shop is often listed as an antique store, it has many mid-century modern pieces — definitely unique and worth checking out.

In addition to home décor, The Shop, at 562 Massachusetts Avenue (where the model train store was for many years) offers services such as interior decorating, personal shopping, and real-estate staging.
