ACT Community Service Day

Acton Conservation Trust (ACTO is looking for volunteers to help during our community service day on Sunday, May 4, 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Mount Hope Cemetery, 176 Central Street, Acton MA. This spring we will continue work to remove invasive growth in one of the conservation restrictions (CR) held by ACT. Family groups, scout groups, students and everyone else is welcome. Join Acton Conservation Trust for a Spring Bird Walk. This is a great time to get up early and go bird watching, as according to BirdCast, more than 1,430,400 birds crossed Middlesex County after sunset on May 13 in 2024. ACT: Spring Nature Walk with Boot Boutwell

Join the Acton Conservation Trust (ACT) for a walk with our favorite storyteller and naturalist, Roland “Boot” Boutwell. Boot will lead us on a walk of 1-2 miles, identifying plants and trees along the way. Listen to stories of the woods and view seasonal growth in a new light. Boot teaches nature programs and leads nature walks for Sudbury Valley Trustees and other local conservation trusts.  Parking and meeting location will be sent a few days before the event.This is a members only event. After years of dreaming and relationship building, the Town of Acton was able to acquire the 33-acre land with help from several funding sources, including, the Residents of Acton through the Community Preservation Act, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Local Acquisition for Natural Diversity (LAND) Grant, Acton Conservation Trust, and Sudbury Valley Trustees (SVT). With the help of patient property owners and the will of the residents of Acton, this new land adjoins the neighboring 73-acre Wetherbee Conservation Land to create 100+ acres of continuously protected and critical habitat.
