Online Acton company calmly thrives

October 4, 2025

According to owner Pooja Garg, “Drymint is an Acton-based wellness lifestyle brand founded on the mission of helping people create mindful, balanced lives through thoughtfully crafted products which are organic and toxin free.” Inspired by her children’s entry into a local business fair five years ago where they made organic candles (and sold out of their candles two years in a row), Pooja started her company in 2022, working from her workshop in the finished basement of her Acton home.

Recently she launched a newly designed website along with the new name Drymint. Mint signifies freshness even in a dried form and Pooja says her candles emit that same freshness that helps the customer relax. Pooja writes: “When lit, they help people make a transition from the busy demands of their day to a state of calm and mindfulness. Each candle is designed to help create moments of peace and intentional living.”

Pooja exudes the same sense of calm as she explained the candle making process. On one table in her workshop there are bottles of scents and a display of some of her products and several photographs of her children, who still help with creative ideas and making candles.

On a second table candles wait in different stages of production. On one end of the table a tall wax warmer stands, taller than a typical coffee urn, that keeps the wax and oil mixture at 188 degrees, perfect for pouring. She decants the wax into a pitcher and mixes in a precise amount of scent. Once the temperature of the mixture cools to 135 degrees, she pours it into a waiting off-white, custom-made cup with a wick suspended in the middle and held by a piece of cardboard.

When the candle wax solidifies, Pooja removes the cardboard, trims the wick, puts a matching hat on the cup, and places it in a sturdy white custom-made box, ready for shipping. Her products are available online and at various local markets and fairs.

The flagship products are called massage candles. Once lit, the wax begins to melt. The cups that hold the candle have a spout that allows the user to easily pour the melted wax into their hands. Surprisingly it does not burn as it is the perfect temperature to use as massage oil. Rubbed into the hands, the liquid lets off the aroma of the oils while moisturizing the skin. The Bamboo Massage Candle contains a blend of aloe, lime, and ginger with sweet almond oil and coconut oil. Another massage candle is called Black Sea, which features coconut oil, jojoba oil, argan oil, sweet almond oil, and cocoa butter.

In addition to the massage candles, Pooja has added a line of organic soy candles made of natural soy wax containing earthy and citrus scents. She describes the Dune candle: “Crafted with pure essential oils including cedarwood, patchouli, and sweet orange, Dune supports your journey of self-discovery and personal growth.” Other candles are named Sequoia, Bamboo, Gardenia, Sea Salt, Orchid, and Orange Grove.

Pooja is expanding her product line. She expects yoga apparel to be available soon.
