Boxborough native Dawn Willis, principal of Great Spaces, has just completed an expansion of her store into the adjacent area. The brick building at 245 Arlington St. is next door to the West Acton Post Office and across the street from Table to Teapots.

On November 14, Willis hosted a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the new space. Patricia Costa, Acton’s economic development director, attended, as well as State Senator Jamie Eldridge and State Representative Danillo Sena. All three presented Willis with citations.

Willis opened Great Spaces in 2009 in Boxborough, and in 2017 she bought the building at 245 Arlington and moved her business there. In addition to being the owner of Great Spaces, she is also a designer and project manager. Along with her team of designers and office staff, Great Spaces helps homeowners turn their ideas into reality.
According to comments made and materials distributed at the ribbon cutting, Great Spaces guides clients through remodeling rooms or creating entirely new spaces, with plans, to budgets, to product selection, to construction documents. Built-ins are popular and aging-in-place jobs have become more common. Great Spaces can supply cabinets and cabinet hardware, counters, tile, plumbing and electrical fixtures. With several local fixture suppliers leaving the business, Great Spaces fills the void.
The new space is packed with many styles of vanities, medicine cabinets, and varied countertops and faucets, and tile samples. Several light fixtures are displayed as well..
Willis says that earth tones have become popular and quartzite counters, which have the look of marble and the durability of quartz, are the current trend.
