Library: Celebrating the Stories & History of the LGBTQ+ Community with SpeakOUT Boston

Jun 3 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Meeting Room, Acton Memorial Library, 486 Main Street, Acton, MA, 01720

Join SpeakOUT Boston as we take a look back at the development of the LGBTQ+ Rights Movement and share the personal stories of local LGBTQ+ people. SpeakOUT’s motto is “Ask Us Anything” and its specialty is raising awareness and opening up a dialogue with their audiences. Come for the stories, the history, and the discussion!

SpeakOUT Boston’ Mission Statement:

SpeakOUT is a community of speakers and volunteers working to create a world free of bias and prejudice by telling the truths of LGBTQ+ lives.

We do so by:

– conducting educational programs about LGBTQ+* lives and issues;

– training individuals and organizations to use public speaking as a means of creating positive cultural change;

– sharing our lives and experiences publicly in order to support those struggling with sexuality and gender identity; and

– educating within the communities we represent about issues that divide us.

We engage audiences in honest dialogue, and in keeping with our motto “Ask Us Anything,” invite any questions that may challenge harmful stereotypes and misconceptions.

Reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities are available upon request by emailing library@actonma.gov.
