Emerson’s White House: With snow cleared, demo day arrives

February 21, 2026

February 6, Emerson Hospital, Concord: Bitter cold temperatures didn’t stop Green Leaf Construction’s crew as they started demolition of the hospital’s century-old White House building to make room for the new and larger Emergency Department. (See the January 24 Acton Exchange about a tour of the current Emergency Department.) But the job had been delayed by three days in order for snow from the February 1 storm to be cleared.

The building housed the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center until the new one opened in the main building on January 5. It was formerly owned by the iconic Concord Country Club until the club saw no more need for it and sold it to the hospital. Also in this issue, the Acton Exchange was given a tour of the new Cardiac Center, timely as this is National Heart Month.
