Discovery Museum will host a free-of-charge pop-up clothing shop, called “Bessie’s Closet,” November 7 through 9, 2025. Donations of new or gently used clean clothing in any size are being collected through November 1. A collection box is located in the Museum’s lobby. Bessie’s Closet will be open to all on Friday, November 7, 3:30pm – 7:30pm and Saturday and Sunday, November 8 and 9, 10:00am – 3:00pm. The Friends of Pine Hawk annual fall community service day is planned for the afternoon of Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 1pm. This year the event will again focus on the Trail Through Time, a heritage trail through town-owned conservation lands in North Acton. The Trail includes sites and stone structures representative of two distinct cultures, the colonial and the Native American, that existed both serially and concurrently within a relatively small geographical area. The focus will be on trail maintenance and Ian Bergemann, Acton’s Land Stewardship Coordinator, will be there to help guide our efforts. All ages welcome. If
The Boxborough Museum at 575 Middle Road is open on second Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Come see Boxborough’s historic treasures including the 1850’s scale which is sensitive enough to weigh a penny and strong enough to calibrate a 50 pound weight, the “new” hearse built in 1881, and the “old” hearse (come and see how old is old). The Town of Acton’s Department of Veteran Services and the Celebrations and Ceremonies Committee invite all community members to join in honoring our nation’s Veterans at this year’s Veterans Day Ceremony. The ceremony will take place outdoors, weather permitting, at the Isaac Davis Monument on the Town Common. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved indoors to the Faulkner Room (Room 204) at Town Hall. Attendees are encouraged to park behind Town Hall or the Fire Station.

The Acton Community Services Office within the Department of Health and Human Services, in partnership with MetroWest Legal Services, will host a monthly housing legal clinic beginning in January. Housing Legal Clinic appointments will begin on Jan. 14 and will be held on the second Tuesday of each month from 4-6 p.m. at the Human Service and Senior Center, 30 Sudbury Road Rear. “I Hiked Acton’s Trails!” Walk the trails in Acton’s conservation areas with the goal of earning a sticker and a sew-on patch! These weekly walks are a joint effort between Acton Conservation Trust and Acton Conservation Division. We’ll walk a different conservation area weekly. The Town of Acton has engaged a traffic engineering consulting firm to study feasible Complete Streets accommodations for the Stow Street corridor from the Stow town line to the Martin Street/ Stow Street/ Liberty Street intersection, including the Jones Field Playground. The purpose of this meeting is to gather public feedback on travel conditions for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians through the corridor. All feedback and input regarding the public’s experience living and working along the corridor will be recorded and used to inform the design concepts. Engineers will be available to answer questions.
Join music historian John Clark for a discussion of the Beatles and how their music affected other bands in the 1960's and '70's. Clark will discuss how, by guiding the group into experimental songs using orchestration, electronics, and exotic instrumentation, Beatles producer George Martin, helped change rock music. Join a group discussion of the groundbreaking work Manitou: The Sacred Landscape of New England's Native Civilization. This book is now a classic in the archaeology of our region. Several decades ago, one of the authors, Boxborough resident Byron Dix, discovered the first of many areas in New England believed to be ancient Native American sites. The Boxborough Esker Walk in memory of George Krusen is sponsored by both the Boxborough Conservation Trust (BCTrust) and the Friends of Pinehawk.
