Children ages 10 and under are invited to wear their costumes and take part in First Parish of Sudbury's Fantastic & Fun 4th Annual Trunk or Treat So Others Can Eat! Collect candy, play games, and have lots of Ghoulish Fun!! There is no fee to attend, but please bring a nonperishable food item to donate to our collection for the Sudbury Community Food Pantry. The Food Pantry will accept donations of all unexpired food. The event will take place in the First Parish Parking Lot (or inside if the weather is inclement). Iron Work Farm continues our series of combined “4th Sunday” events with museum open houses at both Iron Work Farm locations: Jones Tavern: 1 -3 pm - Open House. Faulkner Homestead: 2 - 5 pm - A special program for children and families, “Women, Medicine and Witchcraft.” 3 - 5 pm - Open house and members of the Nashoba Valley Weavers Guild will be on hand at the Faulkner House to demonstrate the important role of colonial women in the making of cloth. Megan Ford Au.D., a licensed audiologist in practice since 1998, will provide hearing screenings, ear wax checks, and basic hearing aid checks. Please allow 15 minutes for your appointment. Dr. Ford has worked at several major medical centers in Boston, Cleveland and Worcester. In 2013 she opened her private practice, HearSmart Audiology, in Littleton. The Friends of the Acton Council on Aging proudly announce that the Honoring Excellence program will host Holocaust Survivor, Author and Public Speaker Janet Singer Applefield. Janet wrote a memoir about her experience as a Jewish child in Poland, surviving by taking on the identity of a deceased Catholic girl and hiding in plain sight with the aid of strangers. Her father, weighing just 110 pounds, survived the Theresienstadt camp-ghetto and reunited with his daughter. He transcribed Janet’s recollections of her years of survival, which served as the basis for her memoir. Refreshments will be served following the program. At

Join the ACC organist, Liz Carley, for a free 30 minute concert and lecture on some of the spooky music associated with Hallowe’en. Liz will give a little history of Hallowe’en and play one or two serious organ pieces. Then the fun begins with singing some classic silly Hallowe’en songs. Bring a brown bag lunch and have lunch with us after the concert in our fellowship hall. You bring the interest and the sandwiches, and we'll provide the music, juice, and cookies. “I Hiked Acton’s Trails!” Walk the trails in Acton’s conservation areas with the goal of earning a sticker and a sew-on patch! These weekly walks are a joint effort between Acton Conservation Trust and Acton Conservation Division. We’ll walk a different conservation area weekly. Check out the “I Hiked Acton’s Trails” Challenge form HERE for more information about the challenge. Date: Wednesdays from September 3 to November 19. Domestic Violence Services Network, Inc. (DVSN) will host its annual Light in the Darkness Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the Lexington Community Center, 39 Marret Road, Lexington. Held during Domestic Violence Awareness Month each October, the Vigil commemorates the lives lost in Massachusetts to domestic violence in the past year. The public is invited to attend this free event. A light supper will be served following the ceremony. “Hockomock” in Algonquin means "land where spirits dwell” and is a revered Wampanoag sacred site, and later a “Devil’s Swamp” for English settlers. Join Dan Boudillion and Bettina Abe for a 2-mile hike at Hockomock Swamp, a Massachusetts Wildlife Management Area in Raynham, Mass. There is much lore surrounding the history of Hockomock Swamp, beginning in the 1600s. The area is the largest freshwater swamp in the state and is known for sightings of floating orbs of light, ghostly voices, and phantom drums linked to its past as an ancient burial ground and a natural fortress during King Phillip’s War.

Nepal: Jeanette's trip to Nepal during a revolution! Nov 1 6-8 pm Jeanette Staley, a Vermont-based artist and activist, had just arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal when a revolution broke out! She'll share with us her experience with art-making in Kathmandu, a brief hike in Nargokot, meeting an elephant in Chitwan, her visit to a rural school of the lowest caste on the south eastern plains of Nepal and what happened when a revolution not only broke out near where she was in lock down, but was successful!
