Acton Circle Furniture Auction Date Set

Circle Furniture closed suddenly last December, leaving clients in the dark concerning their undelivered orders. After recently declaring bankruptcy, the courts approved a schedule of auctions to liquidate the company’s assets.

The Acton store will have its auction on April 3.

On April 2, prospective bidders will be able to inspect the merchandise from 12-8 p.m. Each piece will be labeled with a Lot number. The auction begins at 10:00 a.m. on the following day and will continue into the afternoon. To bid, log on to pesco.com and navigate to the personal property page. Closer to the auction date, the site will provide a link to bidspotter.com, where bidders will find instructions. Starting with Lot #1, bidders will have two minutes to enter their bids, with the time period extended if there are multiple bids.

Winning bidders are required to make their own arrangements to remove their items from the store and will have three days to do so: April 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and April 6,10 a.m-8 p.m..

Attorney Joe Baldiga of the firm Mirick O’Connell from Westboro, court appointed Trustee, will make every effort to provide relief to Circle Furniture customers who ordered furniture but have not received their merchandise or a refund.

Paul E. Saperstein Co. of Holbrook will be running auctions for all eight Circle Furniture stores and the Acton outlet/warehouse on Craig Road. The first auction will be held March 10 at the Cambridge store. The schedule for all the auctions can be found at pesco.com on the personal property page.

Patricia Costa was the emcee, with several Select Board members, Representative Dan Sena, members of the Nashoba Chamber of Commerce, and a crowd of friends and customers also in attendance. Select Board member Dean Charter reminisced about growing up in West Acton and expressed gratitude that the building that the Fab Lab is in, known to some people as the Odd Fellows Building, was being put to good use.

Mondel’s remarks compared her singing career where her preparations were private and her performances gave her one chance to perform well, to opening a store where the creative process is visible to everyone. She thanked her husband Richard for his support.

In the days leading up to the ribbon cutting Mondel and staff spent many hours painting and outfitting a classroom and a lounge area.

Aldi/Dollar Tree

Construction has begun in the former retail space occupied by Stop and Shop in South Acton. Building permits have been secured for both an Aldi grocery store and a Dollar Tree store.

The façade of the Dollar Store has been re-sided, while the Aldi storefront has been removed for better equipment access. A chain link fence has been erected in the parking lot and contains storage containers and heavy equipment. A trench was dug from the storefront to the edge of Powdermill road for a new lighted sign.

No completion dates are available. Questions of the corporate office regarding whether the Dollar Tree store in North Acton will remain open were not answered.
