KJ Caffè, in the Brookside Shopping Mall, closed on July 13. A statement posted at the location read: “It is with great sadness to announce that our time in Acton must soon come to an end…This was not an easy decision, however it is best for our KJ family. We will still be open in Chelmsford, at 118 Chelmsford St. and truly hope to see you all there from time to time, and we thank you for so many wonderful conversations, thoughtful compliments, and incredible smiles…Love Justin and Kathryn Bastinelli and the entire KJ Caffè team.” One reason the Bastinelllis gave for closing was the high costs of running a business in today’s economy.

Also in the Brookside Mall, construction was proceeding on the space to the right of X-Golf Acton at 145 Great Road. According to the building permit posted at the site, preparations are being made for a new restaurant named “Wonder.”

The convenience store next to Domino’s Pizza at 75 Great Road, has changed hands and is now called Desi American Convenience and Deli.

The location also houses Desi American Kitchen, serving Indian food from 4 to 9 p.m. during the week and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. The same kitchen also offers traditional American breakfast and lunch. Breakfast foods include omelets and breakfast sandwiches, and burritos are served from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Lunch, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., includes sandwiches, wraps, and hamburgers.
