A-B boys dust off bats, gloves for first scrimmage

April 5, 2025

March 26, Acton-Boxborough Regional High School baseball field: The local nine saw their first action of the new season in a scrimmage against Leominster (a scrimmage is a practice game that doesn’t count in the standings). Head Coach Patrick Grucela got a good look at his Revs squad by sending in all sixteen of his players throughout the seven-inning game, where the Blue Devils had a clear pitching advantage.

After the game, Grucela told this reporter that the team will have ten veterans returning from last season, including a number of third-year players, to help form a strong nucleus for his team, and hopefully will improve upon their 3-15 record in 2024, when several players were out of their normal positions. The Revs played two more scrimmages on March 28 and April 1. On April 4, they opened their regular season against non-league opponent Lexington and, on April 7, will host Dual-County League rival Westford in a 4:30 game.
