SUMMARY:HONK! at Open Door Theater
DESCRIPTION:Open Door Theater Takes Flight with HONK! at The Dragonfly Theater\, R.J. Grey Jr. HS in Acton\, March 20-29\, 2026.  \nOpen Door Theater (opendoortheater.org)\, based in Acton is proud to announce our production of HONK!\, a musical telling of “The Ugly Duckling” story. HONK! is a heartwarming celebration of being different that is sure to delight audiences of all ages. Ugly looks quite a bit different from his siblings\, and others are quick to notice and point this out. Ugly is kind-hearted\, awkward and innocent\, and his journey of self-discovery is the heart of the show. This messaging supports the mission of Open Door Theater and will resonate with audiences now more than ever. Like Open Door Theater\, HONK! has the audacity to assert that the default state of community should be inclusion and that “fowl” behavior will no longer be tolerated. \nNOTE: All performances are relaxed/sensory friendly and feature ASL interpretation and open captioning. Performances on March 27\, 28\, and 29 are also audio-described. \nTickets are $20\, with free or discounted tickets available for EBT\, WIC and ConnectorCare cardholders. \nFor more information\, see www.opendoortheater.org.

SUMMARY:Biosphere Book Club: Abundance by Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson
DESCRIPTION:Of all the books that Energize Acton volunteers display at community events\, this book–Abundance\, by Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson–has generated the most enthusiasm and interest. \nThe blurb that went out with the book calls it a “once-in-a-generation\, paradigm-shifting call to renew a politics of plenty\, face up to the failures of liberal governance\, and abandon the chosen scarcities that have deformed American life.”  Katherine Sypher\, of NPR\, writes\, “The woes of the world can be paralyzing. It was refreshing\, therefore\, to be called to action by Abundance. Well-known journalists and podcast hosts Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson argue that\, yes\, we really can build and invent our way to the better future that we want and need.” \nJoin the folks at Energize Acton on Zoom to discuss Abundance. \nRegister here for Zoom link.

SUMMARY:Good Friday Concert at Acton Congregation Church
DESCRIPTION:The Senior Choir of Acton Congregational Church along with guest singers from area choruses will present Margaret Bonds’s masterwork\, Credo\, as part of its special Good Friday service on April 3rd.\n\nBonds composed Credo in 1965\, setting to music the powerful and inspirational words written by W.E.B. Du Bois in 1904. Modern performers and audience can find elements of Credo uncomfortable\, in part because the work forces us to confront the injustice of American slavery and its legacy head on\, as both Du Bois and Bonds intended. For more information about this piece\, see https://www.actonc.org/post/good-friday-credo.\n\nThe music of Bonds and text of Du Bois will be interwoven with scripture and moments of reflection\, drawing connections between the passion of Christ and the suffering of people of color throughout our country’s history. Soprano Amy Onyonyi and Tenor Christon Carney will be featured soloists with Elizabeth Carley\, Acton Congregational’s talented organist and pianist. Senior Choir Director\, Elinor A. Armsby leads the performance.
