He was a leading member of The Harlem Renaissance and was greatly influenced by the poetry of Walt Whitman. His poems continually ask the question: What does it mean to be an American? We will study many of his iconic poems and read three of his short stories. Participants will be asked to complete brief surveys during the series to help us understand what is most helpful and how we can continue improving the program. As a thank you\, you will receive a $20 grocery gift card after completing the final survey. Please only sign up if you plan to attend all five sessions.
