SUMMARY:COA presents: CarFit Event-April 28\, 9:30-11:30 AM
DESCRIPTION:Open to out-of-town seniors beginning April 8th  \nThe Acton Council on Aging (COA) is offering a free community CarFit event in the Senior Center parking lot. CarFit is designed to give a quick but comprehensive check on how well an older driver and their vehicle work together with a focus on comfort\, safety\, and mobility. Sometimes simple adjustments to mirrors\, seat\, steering wheel\, or head restraint can make a big difference! It is not a driver test. CarFit is a national program developed by AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association. Each appointment takes less than 30 minutes for a technician to complete a 12-point checklist with each driver. \nAn occupational therapist will also meet with each driver and\, if applicable\, will show examples of devices that can improve the driver’s “car fit.” We always receive a good deal of positive feedback after these events—don’t miss out! \nAdvance registration is required (call 978-929-6652)\, as is signing a waiver on the day of the event. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Library: Great Decisions Group Discussion - U.S. AID Closure & WHO Exit
DESCRIPTION:Meeting Room\, Acton Memorial Library\, 486 Main Street\, Acton\, MA\, 01720\nGreat Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs. The program model involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book and meeting in a Discussion Group to discuss the most critical global issues facing America today. \nThis month’s topic will be on the U.S. pullback from supporting International Benefit Organizations. The current administration is removing support for USAID (Agency for International Development)\, UNESCO (Educational\, Scientific\, and Cultural Organization)\, UNHRC (Human Rights Council)\, UNICEF (International Children’s Emergency Fund)\, UNRWA (Relief and Works Agency) and UNWHO (World Health Organization). \nReasons cited vary from organization to organization including ineptitude\, waste\, fraud\, excess funding by the U.S. compared to other nations\, antisemitism\, and claims that they are inconsistent with current American foreign policy. Some pullbacks began before the current administration. \nCome and learn about these organizations and note how U.S. policy is diminishing their activities. \nThe readings for this meeting are available at the AML reference desk. Please read them ahead of the meeting.
