DESCRIPTION:Join families with young children for ABFN’s annual Halloween Spooktacular event including a juggling magician and other fun activities provided by local preschools and businesses. Entertainment will be from 11:00-12:00.There will also be a Family costume contest\, so come dressed for a chance to go home with cool prizes donated by local businesses. \nAttendance is free for ABFN families. Non-Member Families: $10 per family. \nPre-registration REQUIRED for Non-Member Families. Pre-registration for Non-Member Families closes morning of on 10/25. See link below to register. \nRegistration greatly appreciated and recommended for Member families. Only members may walk-in without registering. This is to ensure a safe event. We appreciate your understanding. \nThe first 30 minutes of the party (10-10:30am) will be geared for families that desire a more sensory-friendly experience. \nWe will be collecting items for the Acton Boxborough Food Pantry. You will learn about the people\, places and practices that shaped the town’s history and our nation’s as well. Topics include Native American history\, the use of natural resources\, the importance of Colonel Francis Faulkner and Acton’s West Militia Company\, the longtime role of the Jones and Faulkner families\, the impact of the railroad\, and visit nearby historic buildings\, including those owned by the Iron Work Farm. \nTour leader Amy Cole is an accomplished professional tour leader and has been improving this tour every time she does it. She grew up near Acton Center and knows the town well. She has a wide-ranging interest in Acton’s unique history. DESCRIPTION:The United Church of Christ in Boxborough will be hosting a Cuba Benefit Concert featuring\nBoston-based Pan-Latin Band\, Sol y Canto\, on Saturday\, October 25th\, at 7:30 PM. \nTickets are $25 per person\, ($30 at the door)\, $15 for students. \nTo make a donation or to purchase tickets\, go to: A Cuba Benefit Concert with Sol Y Canto. \nThe COVID pandemic forced Cuba to close its doors to tourism for several years\, which\nseverely impacted the economy. In addition\, the main power plant broke down last fall\, resulting\nin widespread power outages across the island for several weeks. Since then\, electricity has\nbeen rationed\, and families can expect to have power for only a few hours each day. Food and\nwater are also rationed. The people are struggling to survive. \nProceeds from the event will benefit the congregation of the Second Baptist Church in Santiago\nde Cuba and neighboring communities.
